Eleni's obituary

In loving memory of Eleni Vantsouris of Dedham, MA.

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Eleni Vantsouris, who was called from this life to eternal rest on March 7, 2026.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Stefanos Vantsouris, her daughters Vasiliki Vantsouris-Kaberides, and her husband Harry Kaberides, Dimitra Vantsouris, as well as her granddaughter Martha Konstandinidis, all of Dedham.

Eleni was born on May 6, 1948, in Galatades, Pellas, Greece to farmers Ioannis Trempolitis and Vasiliki (Theodorou) Trempolitou. She was preceded in death by Thanasi Trempolitis, George Trempolitis, and Nicoletta Gerogiannis. She is survived by Xristos Trempolitis and Ioanna Trempolitou-Xatzi. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Raised in humble beginnings, she spent her early years farming with her family in the northern village. Eleni was sharp and witty. She excelled in school but couldn't afford to continue her studies, working long hours in the fields instead.

Always up for a laugh and bonding with friends and family, Eleni would go to local festivals where she met the love of her life at 23, becoming inseparable from that point on.

Tired of living in poverty, just a year after getting married and having their newborn baby, the couple made the decision to move to America. With family already in the area and a big Greek community occupying Roslindale, the two set their roots right in the city.

Five years later, the two had their second child and eventually found their forever home in Dedham in August 1983.

Working hard through the years, Eleni was a seamstress at the New England Baptist Hospital for 30 years before retiring.

To all who knew her and her infectious smile, Eleni was a source of unconditional love and unwavering devotion to her family. She was a caretaker, a nurturer, and a healer, especially after the birth of her granddaughter, who became the light of her life and her greatest love.

Visiting hours will be held at George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home at 456 High St, Dedham on Wednesday March 11, 2026 from 4-7pm. The funeral service will be at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church at 39 Belgrade Ave, Roslindale on Thursday, March 12th at 11am. Brookdale Cemetery at 86 Brookdale Ave in Dedham.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Eleni's memory to St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church 39 Belgrade Ave. Roslindale, MA 02131.
