Helen's obituary
Helen Montoya was born on September 22, 1944 to Bernardo and Enriqueta DeLeon in Zapata, Texas. In 1970 she met John Montoya, and they wed in 1971, going on to have two children, Stacy Chinea (daughter) and Christopher Montoya (son). She became a grandmother on April 26, 2000 to Jade Amber Montoya who she dearly loved and cherished.
When Helen became a wife and mother she dedicated her life to being a wonderful spouse and a supportive and loving mother. Helen excelled at caring for her family and provided a warm, loving environment for family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing and all types of crafts. Additionally she took pride in keeping a nicely groomed yard with beautiful flowers and also enjoyed gardening and growing herbs. Helen was a kind and generous soul and she had unconditional love for her family and friends.
In October 1976, Helen was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and she dedicated her life to serving her God, Jehovah and she volunteered her time to teach others about the the promises of God's Kingdom contained within the Bible. One of these promises is of a resurrection hope for our loved ones that have passed away (John 5:28,29).
Helen worked as the manager for Landmark Mobile Home Park for several years for Davy and Marlene Graff who she adored working with. She thoroughly enjoyed her work and took pride in keeping detailed and accurate records and helping people in the community. Helen was also a nanny and took care of several children over the years that grew up with her own children in the home and she was lovingly known as "Mama Helen" by them.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, Bernardo and Enriqueta DeLeon, siblings: Juan DeLeon, Lauro DeLeon, Alejandro DeLeon, Olivia Ramos, and Eliamar Wilson. She is survived by her husband, John Montoya, Stacy Chinea, daughter, Christopher Montoya, son and Jade Amber Montoya, granddaughter. She is also survived by her siblings, Francisca Vela, Beatriz Moncivais, Yolanda Lopez, Hugo DeLeon, Angel DeLeon and Carlos DeLeon. Helen is survived by many nephews and nieces that she dearly loved.
