Peace and Comfort to the Lang family and all who loved Electa!  I will always remember her hearty cheerfulness and good spirit!
I have never met a kinder gentler soul on this earth, than your mother.   (With the exception of my own mother).  They were birds of a feather.  And I am so grateful that she was a part of my life.  I know I am a better person having her in my life. I am forever grateful.
I remember our family visits to Clarendon Hills and the Langs’ visits to our house in Oak Park.  Lots of kids, noise, chaos and fun!  Uncle Tom with his booming voice and Aunt Electa with her terrific understated humor.   Ying and  Yang.  My condolences to the Lang family.

My grandma, Electa lang, at 97, passed away on a harvest moon.  A full moon known for blessings of abundance, allowing farmers precious extra light to work and get a head in harvesting their summer crop to help provide for the future.

Nothing sums up my grandma better. Electa had 5 daughters, 1 I called mom, and 4 I called most beautiful aunt, 4 foster children (I know of), 10+ sons and daughters in laws, 10 grand children, 10 great grand children.  Making the Lang Gang 4 generations and 40+ Deep.  A certified dynasty.

The sympathetic ear.  The helping hand. The heart of gold.  The voice of reason without ever raising it.  Steady as a rock... she was always there.

When I was challenged by my wife to imagine a way to honor the life of my grandma.  The only thing I thought of was service.  Just put your head down smile and see how you can help. That was my grandma.

And don’t never ever ever ever complain.  Ever.  Even if your legs broke, don’t complain. Smile and go volunteer somewhere.

I would challenge you all here today, take some time out of your lives and donate it in my grandmas name and pass on some love to those who might be running short.  I will answer the challenge.

That was my grandma…

Saint Electa.
