Eleanor's obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Eleanor "Sparky" O'Keefe, affectionately known as Sparky, who left us on January 12, 2024. Born on July 3, 1979, Eleanor lived a life of vibrant colors and diverse experiences.
Throughout their life, Eleanor carved out a unique and eclectic path. After graduating from Thomas More University with a B.A. in Biology in 2001, Eleanor went on to further their studies in Massage Therapy at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Minneapolis in 2002. The following year, they moved to Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico, enhancing their journey with an enriching cultural experience. In 2007, they were married, and in 2008, they moved forward from this chapter of their life with a divorce. Eleanor added a new layer to their life tapestry by moving to Saint Simons Island, GA in 2016, and later to Maple Grove, MN in 2018. She later moved to the Saint Cloud area in 2020, settling in rural Little Falls.
Eleanor's professional journey took a fulfilling turn in 2020 when they began working at Michelle Kenric Salon and Spa. Their favorite ways to relax and unwind from their day had range, from the simple pleasures of relaxing at home and playing with dogs to a passionate interest in gardening. They also held a unique affinity for Segway and long-distance cycling.
Their spirit was beautifully eccentric – a lover of cigarettes and salt and vinegar chips, an aficionado of tequila and chardonnay. Music by Fleetwood Mac, Black Crowes, Mary J. Blige, and Alicia Keys filled their days with rhythm, while television series like Law & Order, CSI, Chicago Fire, and 911 added suspense and drama to their evenings. Eleanor's appreciation for the mid-century modern style, the game of Clue, and cherished vacation spots like Mazatlan, Sweden, and Scotland brought joy and excitement to their life.
A lover of dogs and owner of two, Sadie and Sandy, who will sorely miss their companion, Eleanor was a kind-hearted and spiritual soul who taught us all how to enjoy life peacefully. Their favorite local spots included Way Back Wednesdays @ Benton Station. Their favorite color, hazel, matched their laid-back personality perfectly.
To celebrate Eleanor's life, a viewing will be held on Monday February 12, 2024, at 5:00 PM at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service. A Funeral liturgy will follow the same day on Tuesday, February 13 at 11:00 AM at St. John Nepomuk Church. Eleanor touched many lives with their warmth and kindness. Their absence will be deeply felt, but the lessons they imparted and their precious memories will continue to live on within us.
