Eleanor Alonzo Gastelum peacefully passed away on November 9th, 2021 at the age of 82. She was born on March 3rd,1939 in Tulare,Ca to Pedro Vasquez Alonzo and Maria Hernandez Alonzo, one of 12 children.

She met and married Miguel Gastelum and together they had 5 daughters and 3 sons. They stayed married until his death in February of 2019, they were married for 62 years.

Eleanor loved bingo, Spanish music, softball, western movies, games shows, elephants, word search puzzles and her friends and family. She was a very generous and loving person with a huge heart and was a mother figure to many and for that she will be forever missed. She was a mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, a friend and anything anyone needed her to be. The loss of this loving, fierce and strong soul weighs heavily on anyone that knew her. The light in our lives is gone, but we take solace in the fact that she no longer feels pain and is once again reunited with so many friends and family lost over the years, she is at peace. 

Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband Miguel Gastelum; her parents Pedro Vasquez Alonzo and Maria Hernandez Alonzo; her siblings Mary Duran,Ruth Alonzo,Margaret Macareno, Gilbert Alonzo and Pete Alonzo Jr. Her daughters Rosemary Gastelum, Sandy Gastelum and Victoria Gastelum. Her sons, Joseph Gastelum and Tony Gastelum. One grandson, Michael Aguilar.

She is survived by daughters Christina Gonzalez and Sara Arriola (Ray), and son Rudy Gastelum; siblings Herminia Alonzo, Helena Ortiz, Alice Moreno, Jimmy Alonzo, Jennie Guerrero, and Eliseo Alonzo; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

We ask that you celebrate Eleanor's life with us at Sterling & Smith Funeral Home: rosary and visitation November 29th 3pm-7pm, service the next day, the 30th at 9am with a reception to follow at Meitzenheimer Community Center in the Tulare Room 11am-2pm
