Eleanor's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eleanor "El" Berry, a beacon of light known for her humor, kindness, and heart, who left us on September 29, 2024. Born on August 17, 1944, Eleanor, often affectionately known as El, was a woman of many virtues and was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Eleanor was a gem in every sense of the word. She was funny, fun, supportive, and courageous. She had a unique way of making a room light up with her smile and positivity. To Eleanor, everyone was a "hammer", a term of endearment that she used quite frequently, reflecting her unique, loving personality.
She leaves behind a legacy of confidence and standing up for oneself. Eleanor was a woman who knew her worth and taught others to recognize their own. A renowned hairstylist, she poured her heart into making women and men feel confident and beautiful, touching countless lives along the way. Her lessons on beauty—both inside and out—will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to receive them.
Eleanor is survived by her husband , Willis Berry Jr., Her daughter, Thurayya Berry, who she dearly loved and cherished and her two grandchildren, N’dea and TJ who she adored . She was more than just a mother, grandmother and friend; she was an embodiment of strength and resolve, a model of kindness, compassion, loyalty, and forgiveness.
The viewing for Eleanor will be held at 8:00 am on October 12, 2024, at the Sharon Baptist Church and service will follow. The family extends their gratitude to all those who have shared in their grief and remembering Eleanor's vibrant life.
Eleanor's legacy will remain a guiding light for all those who knew her. Her spirit of joy, strength, and love will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the countless lessons and love she shared with us all. Through the lives she touched, her kindness will continue to ripple out into the world, a testament to a life well-lived.
