Eldred Dale's obituary

Eldred Dale Henderson:  Romans 8:18 “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”  Eldred Dale Henderson of Livingston, Louisiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 28, 2021 at the age of 74.  Born in Bayou Barbary, Louisiana, on August 20, 1946, Dale was a lifelong resident of Livingston.  A 1964 graduate of Doyle High School, Dale was loved by many friends, family, and business associates.  He joyed in reminiscing about his days at Doyle High School and the bond he shared with his classmates.  Following high school, Dale attended the Reppert School of Auctioneers in Decatur, Indiana.  From here, he embarked on a career as an auctioneer that would take him around both the United States and Asia as a sought-after auctioneer.  It is altogether fitting that Dale spent his last full day on Earth enjoying the comradery of a sale day at Henderson Auctions, a company he helped to start with his father and brothers in 1957.  Dale proudly served his country as a member of the Louisiana Army National Guard from 1967 to 1973.  Dale’s devotion to his country was dwarfed only by his devotion to his Lord and Savior and his beloved family.  Dale is survived by his children Lloyd Henderson, Alesha Henderson, and Delmond Henderson and wife Ashley Wright Henderson.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Demi Henderson Bush and husband Brennan Bush, Joseph Henderson and their mother Stephanie McMahon, whom he loved as his own; Samuel, Lucy, Bonnie, Hudson, Case, and Glynleigh Sue Henderson.  Dale took much pride in his grandchildren and was due to become a great grandfather this summer to Magnolia Bush.  Dale is also survived by his brother Wayne Henderson, whom he enjoyed visiting with nearly every day at his restaurant, and wife Carolyn, sisters-in-law Mildred Henderson and Patsy Ouber, brother-in-law Sonny Hood and wife Debbie, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  In 1968, Dale married his sweetheart Sue Hood Henderson who preceded him in death by only six weeks.  Dale is also preceded in death by his parents J. L. and Gladys Willie Henderson, father- and mother-in-law Norris and Beatrice Hood, brothers Marvin Henderson and wife Audrey, Clyde Henderson, and sister Laverne Henderson Watts and husband Valery, and brother-in-law Alex Ouber.  Dale and Sue spent a lifetime of devotion to their family, but especially to caring for their special needs daughter Alesha Dawn, of which they felt privileged and blessed to do.  Whether he was helping to start a tractor which many had deemed unworkable, sitting with a beloved dog while watching LSU football, or listening to his favorite Southern gospel quartets, Dale’s devotion to his Savior, family, friends, and country were always evident.  Dale had many fond memories throughout his life and career, but a particular cherished memory was his 2010 trip to Israel.  On this trip, Dale was able to visit the land where his Savior was born, lived, died, and rose again.  It is now that Dale has met his glorious Savior and rests fully in His comforting presence.  Visitation for Dale will be held Monday, April 5th, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Fundamental Baptist Church, 24240 South Frost Road, Livingston, Louisiana.  Visitation will resume Tuesday, April 6th, at 11:00 am until the funeral at 2:00 pm.  The funeral will be conducted by Dale’s pastor, Bro. Rusty Silvertooth, great friends, Bro. Dave Kelley and Bro. Paul Taylor, and cousin Bro. Arvin Harrell.  Music at the funeral will be provided by nephew Dr. Jeremy Henderson and great-nieces The Powell Sisters.  Pallbearers will be grandsons Joseph and Samuel Henderson, grandson-in-law Brennan Bush, nephews Jeffrey Henderson and Phillip Watts and friend Kenny Morrison. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Hardy, John Hinson, Carl Richardson, Andy Ealey, Dwight Smith, Robert Taylor, Joe Herrington, and Justis Herrington. Burial will follow at Oak View Baptist Church, 27364 South Frost Road, Livingston, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, family members ask that donations be made to a special needs trust fund for the care of Alesha Henderson, payable to: Alesha Henderson Special Needs Trust P.O. Box #221 Livingston, LA 70754.
