Elayne's obituary
It was the Funeral Home who had first informed me of her passing two days after the fact on March 9, 2021. I was informed, that my Mother had not listed me as her next of kin at her new nursing home residence that she was admitted to on November 12, 2020 that she had just been transferred too from another nursing facility. She had told the nursing staff that she had a daughter that lived in California. My phone number was listed in her phone, and she had last left me a voice mail on November 28, 2020. I did not know the name of the nursing home that she had been transferred to either. But, the nursing home called me once 42 minutes after my Mother had already passed away from their main line, and did not leave me a voice message to even inform me that she had passed. This nursing home did not advocate for my Mother's physical, mental/emotional, or spiritual needs and they allowed her to die completely isolated & alone without her family during their Covid19 outbreak.
To say that we are shocked is an understatement and unfortunately I am not prepared to pay for her funeral expenses and burial costs at this time. Elayne was the best Mother she could be to me, and the best Grandmother to Keiran that a family could ask for and we are completely lost without having had the chance to be made aware of her deteriorating health concerns to advocate that her needs be met, and we lost the ability to be able to say goodbye to her, be there for her, and to tell her that we loved her.
I am raising money to cover the cost of bringing her back home to Los Angeles, California from Corsicana,Texas, as well as for her Funeral Home and Burial Expenses. I am overwhelmed by the support shown to us so far and I can’t thank you all enough for helping our family during this very sad time.
