Elaine Neuman Matthew passed away peacefully on December 22, 2020 with her husband David, of 62 years holding her hand. David and Elaine were inseparable and had a mutual love and passion for each other. A true love story. Even after 62 years, Elaine’s bright blue eyes would light up and sparkle anytime she looked at David.
Elaine grew up in Niagara Falls, New York. Her parents Dorothy and William Neuman also had another daughter Joan who proceeded Elaine in death. Elaine met David in Niagara Falls in 1957.

Elaine was a teacher who loved teaching 3rd and 4th graders. She felt that was were she could make the most impact and difference. Elaine and David have 3 children: Bonnie (partner Pat), Scott (wifeTammy), Sherry Tasselmyer (husband Brian). They have 5 dynamic and loving grandchildren, Makenzie, Hayley, Karaline, Kristen and Connor.
When their children were grown, Elaine went back to her love of teaching and was a recognized Grade School teacher at Lewiston Porter schools. Through their beginning years, David and Elaine moved often to further Davids career opportunities. They found it easy to make new friends and always joined the local Lutheran church. Elaine’s father William purchased a small cottage in 1956 in Gravenhurst, Ontario in the Muskoka lake region of Canada. The cottage quickly became their special place, and after Elaine’s father passed, Elaine and David kept it as their home away from home. They enjoyed boating and swimming off their dock, and always took their family their for vacations. Their Muskoka friends were like family, as David and Elaine spent 60 years on vacation, and then throughout their retirement enjoying their cottage with their family. Family memories always were wrapped in stories about the great times at the cottage.
Elaine is survived by David along with her 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Brother in law Carl (Mary) and Mary Ellen Matthew (wife of the late Barry Matthew)
Elaine requested that her ashes be spread at the cottage which holds so many family memories. The family will arrange a celebration of life whenever it is safe for all family members to travel to Canada. Please keep David and the family in your prayers throughout this difficult time of loss.
