In lieu of flowers

Please consider giving to a fundraiser for Wedgeport Sport Tuna Fishing Museum.

Background

My mom, Eilene Carney (nee Pothier), grew up in Wedgeport, Nova Scotia. She is Acadian, a descendant of the first French colonists who settled in what was then known as the colony of Acadia in New France. Even after the brutal British Expulsion of the Acadians in the mid-1700s, a small portion of the Acadian community perservered in the Maritime Provinces, maintaining their language, culture and traditions. My mom was proud of her long and storied legacy as an Acadian, and her family's long history as fishermen in Wedgeport and in the surrounding French Coast. L'Association du Musee de Wedgeport (a recognized Canadian charitible organization #899058457 RR0001), maintains and operates the Wedgeport Sport Tuna Fishing Museum, which preserves both the Acadian and fishing legacy of my mom's family and she would be honored if you supported it in her memory.
