Eileen's obituary
Eileen Marie (Frey) Portie was born on April 1, 1945, in Leavenworth, Kansas. Though she arrived on April Fool’s Day, she would always smile and tell you she was born on Easter—a reflection of her deep faith and her warm sense of humor.
Eileen lived a life grounded in love, kindness, and a genuine care for others. She devoted much of her life to serving God and nurturing children, working as a bookkeeper, a teacher, and for many years as a dedicated Sunday School Superintendent. She believed wholeheartedly that everyone deserved to be treated with the same dignity and compassion, and she lived that belief every day.
Beyond her work and service, Eileen cherished simple joys. She loved spending time with family, encouraging others, and unwinding with her favorite crime series—especially Blue Bloods and Law & Order. Her gentle heart, steady faith, and ability to make everyone feel seen and valued will be remembered always.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Don Portie; her parents, James and Dorothy Frey; and her brothers Larry, Paul, and Raymond Frey.
She is survived by her daughter, Chrissie Woodward, and husband Mike; her two beautiful granddaughters, Jasmine and Jocelyn Woodward; her sister, Claudia Strack, and husband Don; her brother, Alan Frey; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Eileen’s legacy of love, fairness, and faith lives on in all who knew her.
