Edwina's obituary
Edwina Roberta Herman, at the respectable age of 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 4, 2024, in Englewood, Colorado.
She was gracefully welcomed into the world on May 10, 1928, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, by her loving parents, Edwin and Dorothy Reynolds. Edwina completed her high school education at Garfield High School in 1945 and dedicated 33 years of her professional life to the banking industry in Denver, Colorado.
Upon her retirement from banking in 1983, Edwina made the decision to relocate to Grand Junction, where she embraced a well-deserved retirement.
Edwina married Orin Herman Jr. on January 2, 1981, after a lengthy courtship. Sadly, she became a widow when he passed away on February 6, 1992. Her beloved schnauzer, Abby Sue, became her constant companion and brought her great comfort and purpose.
Edwina generously dedicated over 33 years of her time as a volunteer at RSVP (retired seniors volunteer program), where she worked at the Meals on Wheels location in Grand Junction. She was renowned for her fierce independence and spirited nature.
Edwina had a deep love for camping and fishing, and she could often be seen driving her small motor home and taking other elderly seniors on fishing and camping trips. She also enjoyed the occasional visit to Central City to try her luck at the penny slots.
Edwina is survived by her children, Ron Westbrook (Sandy), LaDawn Westbrook, and Roy Westbrook; her grandchildren, Sean Westbrook (Wing Chi) and Kelly Westbrook-Schmalstich (Justin); and her great-grandchildren, Brynlee and Charlie Mae Schmalstich; and Leahana Westbrook.
A memorial service will be held on July 26, 2024, at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs, CO. at 1:00 P.M.
