Edwin's obituary
Edwin, lovingly known as “EB” to many, was also known as Ed or Mr. Ed to others. He was born on 8/20/1931 to Harry Lacy and Myrtle Marie Wright, nee Capel, at home in Sharptown NJ; a small hamlet outside of Woodstown NJ.
Edwin loved anything to do with cars. Racing, fixing, restoring. At the young age of 12, Eb rebuilt his 1st car engine on his own. A feat, I’m sure many of today’s youth have never experienced.
Eb was raised in Sharptown NJ, along with many of his Wright relatives. He and his cousin “Bub” were basically raised as brothers. They were typical young boys, getting into trouble - scrapes, broken bones, etc. They remained extremely close until the Lord took Bub home in 1998.
Edwin attended Woodstown High School where he met and fell in love with his “lady” Barbara Lee Rathbone. They eventually married before he enlisted in the Navy where he first served on the USS Wasp. They were blessed with two daughters, Sharon and Sandra, from this union.
Edwin lost his first wife Barbara to cancer at the young age of 61 in 1999. He went on to marry Carol Moriarty Johnson a couple years later. He and Carol spent the remainder of his life together, enjoying new homes and numerous activities.
Edwin was predeceased by his 1st wife Barbara of 45 years, his parents, Harry and Myrtle, and his “brother” Bub, as well as other family members. He lost his mother, his wife and his “brother” all within 12 months. Edwin showed his resilience through these three major losses in his life.
Edwin is survived by his daughters Sharon K (Ottis) and Sandra L (Harold), his grandchildren Michele (Chris) and Danny (Crystal), and 3yr old great grandson Oliver. He is survived by his sister Barbara A and his brother William H (Jake) of Sharptown. He is also survived by his wife Carol, step-children Tammy (Al) and Ricky (Bonnie) and their children. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law John and Tommy (Edie) and their children and grands.
Services will be private for family and closest friends, when he is buried in the Sharptown Methodist Cemetery next to his first wife, Barbara.
