Edwin's obituary
Edwin Earle Post, 88, passed away peacefully, in his sleep on August 10, 2023 from complications of a stroke and diabetes. Ed graduated from East Haven High School (Connecticut) in 1953 where he lettered in three sports (basketball, baseball, and swimming) and was an honor student. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI, in Troy, NY) in 1957 with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering and was employed by the Carpenter Steel Corporation in San Diego, CA where he eventually became the General Manager. Ed held several patents including a method of fabricating a welded metallic duct assembly. His hobbies included bird watching, growing orchids, watching sports, golfing and traveling around the world in search of exotic birds to add to his extensive life list.
Ed and his beloved wife, Mary Kukkula Post, were married for 60 years and were the parents of two sons, Edwin Raymond Post and Gregory Booth Post. Ed was greatly loved and admired by both family and friends, and especially his nieces and nephews.
Ed served in the US Army National Guard and was a member of several birding organizations and the local country clubs in San Diego and Green Valley where they lived.
He is survived by his two sons, and his sisters, Betty Post Wotton (Robert) and Brenda Post Frandsen (Phil), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, his parents (Edwin Ernest Post and Mariette Seeley Booth Post), and his sister, Shirley Post Smigel (Stanley).
A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
