Edward's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Edward "Boogie" Wynne, Jr., born 1944 and passed on March 3, 2026 due to complications with heart disease. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Martin & Castille's Southside location at 600 E. Farrel Road from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A Mass will be said in his honor at Holy Cross Church at 9:00 AM on Monday, March 9, 2026.
Survivors include his wife Melissa Wynne; his two children, James Collin Wynne and his wife Nicole Wynne, and Kathryn Wynne Glover and her husband Michael Glover; his sister Betty Tujaque and brother Michael Wynne; and his five grandchildren, Aidan Wynne, Abbey Wynne, Evan Wynne, Graham Wynne and Mary Michael Glover.
He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Williamson Wynne III ("E.W."); his father Dr. Edward Wynne, Sr. and mother Lessie Wynne. He loved his son "E.W." with all of his heart and it changed him greatly when "E.W." passed.
Edward attended Cathedral and the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He later earned his graduate degree from Louisiana State University.
He was active in real estate and loved his many years working with Landry Properties.
In 1972 Edward and a few of his dear friends and their wives founded the Krewe of Bonaparte. He was a Key Inaugural Officer and Inaugural Board Member as Second Vice President. He was honored to serve as King Napoleon II in 1978, the second King in the Krewe's history. Edward took great pride walking in the Coronation Ball's presentation every year up until 2025 to support his beloved Krewe.
His enthusiasm for music was unmistakable, with "The Boogie Kings" being a favorite. He loved the joie de vivre of Acadiana. He enjoyed a good cigar and being with his best friends. He was a funny guy and loved being social. Up until the past few months, he continued to show up to Supper Club, where he and his best friends would gather over a good meal to laugh, talk shop and tell stories of their pride for their children and grandchildren. Upon his best friend Robert Trahan's death, he never stopped going to the Trahan house on Sundays for Sunday lunch until very recently. He remained by his best friend Joey Livaudais' side as he struggled with dementia up until his recent death. His did the same for his best friend Lane Roy. He loved his friend's, and their families, with a big heart.
A true foodie, Edward loved good cuisine. He loved cooking and a good dining experience - whether a hole in the wall or fine dining. He loved a good po-boy and a cold beer, a muffaletta from Central Grocery in New Orleans, escargot with a tall glass of red wine and sitting at the bar at Don's. He collected so many hot sauces from around the world that it earned him a spot in "Ripley's Believe It or Not".
Edward could be found at Mass weekly and enjoyed attending Mass with his grandchildren when he could.
Up until the past few years, Edward loved to exercise and could always be seen walking at Red Lerille's or even on busy streets. If you knew him, you knew he loved his walking.
In his younger years, Edward loved traveling and exploring different cultures. He brought his children on so many adventures such as Cancun, the U.S. Virgin Islands and more. He loved visiting his son Collin when he lived in Connecticut and his daughter Kathryn (Ed called her "Katie") when she lived in New York City. He was so proud of his children and they will never forget his "go for it" attitude anytime they thought about moving to new cities. "Just do it," he said.
Above all, his greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren. Weekly visits were a must and his face lit up anytime he spoke of his grands. Words can't describe his pride when his first grand son Aidan was born. From soccer games to Grandparents Day, he loved all of his grandchildren's accomplishments and special moments. We are sure the staff at Twins will miss his Sunday walk-ins to purchase a "smiley face" cookie for his grand daughter, Mary Michael. One that she looked forward to receiving from him each week with a big smile. All of his grandchildren are grieving the loss of their "Pop".
His children Collin Wynne and Kathryn Glover would like to thank their dear friends for the calls, flowers, rosaries said and warm meals sent to them during this time. You are all angels on earth.
Rest well, "Boogie", we miss you already.
