A donation has been made to the Miami Dade Police Officer Assistance Trust in memory of Edward Jeffrey Steel, by Jeff's brother Pablo Steel and Pablo's friend Rex, who met Jeff in 2019. My sincere condolences for your loss Betty and Katie. Jeff was a fighter but his body just refused to continue. Love to you all, Pablo. 💙
Jeff was a great friend to our family. He was also a wonderful partner leading Boy Scout Troop 224. His smile was infectious and the knowledge he shared priceless.  Jeff impacted so many during his lifetime and is not a person we will ever forget. Be at peace Jeff and strength to those he is leaving behind.
Rest in peace, old friend. I will truly miss you.

I was sad when I heard the news of Jeff's passing. He fought so hard.  I will miss him. I loved his story telling and his great sense of humor.

I met Jeff in 1987 when he wain peace corps in Ecuador in the little town Guaranda. I have had such a great time with him and his friends joking around and having tons of fun. Since this time I visited him many times in Miami where he showed me around in places which normal tourists never see. Then of course I also met his lovely wife Betty and Kyle and later on of course their daughter Kathy.
Just before covid hit us I fortunately visited Jeff and family a last time.
Unfortunately in 2022 when I already had my flight booked I catched covid and couldn't come and joyn some time with him.
In all this sadness of this loss I am really greatfull that I have had the chance to meet this great friend.
I will never forget him.
