Edward's obituary
Edward Paul Schmitt, 80, of Hesperia, CA, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2022 in Victorville, CA.
Ed was born on January 25, 1942 to Howard and Alice Schmitt in Columbus, Ohio, one of three children and middle brother to Howard and Marialice.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Edith Schmitt and his three daughters, Nicole Schmitt Barnard, Beverly Wallace and her husband Ryan, and Renee Williams. “Pops” was beloved by his grandchildren, Steven Barnard and his wife Misty, and their boys Haiden and Michael; Christopher Barnard and his daughter Delayna Gaynelle (DG), Courtney Medrano and her husband Noel; Keaton Rojas; Zachary Williams and Sy Williams.
Ed grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and is predeceased by his brother, Howard Schmitt, and survived by his sister Marialice Bennett. He has many nephews and nieces, all of whom he loved and cherished. He has always been an important family figure to all, including to Edith’s brothers and sisters and extended families.
Ed retired from the Air Force after being stationed at George Air Force Base. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rotary, and Holy Family Church. After retiring from the Air Force, he owned Ed’s Lock & Key Service for many years.
Ed was an avid sports fan and his love for golf was evident through his dedication to hitting the greens on a regular basis. He was a member at both Apple Valley and Hesperia Golf and Country Clubs over the years.
There will be a graveside memorial service at Victor Valley Memorial Park on June 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm in Victorville, CA.
