Edward's obituary
Edward Walter Sawyer (April 19th, 1966 - December 29th, 2023)
Edward “Ed” Walter Sawyer, 57, of Torrington, Connecticut, passed away surrounded by loved ones after a long, courageous battle with cancer on December 29th, 2023.
Ed was born on April 19th, 1966, to Jean Simpson in Torrington, Connecticut. After graduating from Oliver Wolcott Technical High School in 1984, Ed went on to start his career in plumbing, eventually opening up his own business, Sawyer Plumbing, in 2000.
In 1996, Ed was introduced to Darlene by his best friend’s mother, Elsie, and Darlene’s grandmother, Emma. They married in 1997 and were with each other through life’s highlights and challenges. Ed and Darlene went on to have one daughter, Lindsay.
Ed was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. He was the life and soul of any party. Ed made anyone, including strangers, laugh at his wittiness and was the definition of an extrovert.
Ed was predeceased by his grandfather, Charles; his grandmother, Doris; his mother, Jean; and half-sister, Donna. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; his daughter, Lindsay; Lindsay’s husband, Luke; his brother, John (Marsha); his half-brother, William; his sister-in-law, Doreen (Rusty); his surrogate father, Michael Valigorski; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 13th, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or a local animal shelter.
