Edward's obituary
Ed, a lifelong resident of the greater Capital District, passed away at home on February 26, 2024.
Holding various jobs through the years, he would most enjoy folks sharing stories about his time spent working concessions at Lebanon Valley Speedway and his time at New Lebanon School District, where he worked as a janitor, bus driver and ultimately, head of transportation. Ed enjoyed engaging in acts he hoped brought joy to friends and family, shopping at dollar stores, making posters and being a super-fan of the Hellions of Troy Roller Derby League.
He served the community as a member of Brainard's local fire and ambulance departments, coached little league, and spent over 10 years organizing the Pride Center of the Capital Region Pride parade. Working on the parade is something Ed tirelessly prepared for to make it the best experience for participants and viewers, ultimately receiving recognition for his service from the Center.
Ed is survived by his daughters, Holly and Heidy; and his ex-wife, Kathy.
In Ed's late 60s, he embraced living, working, and volunteering as Marsha, an identity he'd spent much of his life trying to navigate from self-discovery to actualization. Marsha enjoyed friendships in a way Ed rarely did and carried herself with a unique confidence and sense of self.
Following his wishes, a service will be held at a later date. Details will be shared via social media. Donations can be made in his name to local fire departments or LGBTQIA+ community centers.
