Edward's obituary

Edward Frank Mazuroski died peacefully at his home in Rotonda West, Florida, on April 30, 2024, following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.

Ed, a man of unwavering determination and a gentle soul, was born in Queens, NY, to Robert and Irene Mazuroski. While his father's work led to the family moving around the country, the Mazuroskis eventually settled in Massachusetts, where Ed graduated from Canton Mass High School. Ed went on to graduate in 1983 from North Bennet Street School, a private college located in Boston. There, he was a prodigy specializing in cabinet and furniture making, taking first place in a competition for building a stunning Chippendale-style chest of drawers.

Ed married Donna Kay, and in 1985, their son, Matthew Mazuroski, was born. As Matthew grew older, Ed became involved with Little League, soccer, basketball, and the Boy Scouts. During those years with Donna, Ed became friends with Steve and Joanne Michaud, who remained close to him throughout his life. In 1993, Ed lost Donna after a long struggle with cancer.

In 1988, Ed moved the family to Northfield, Vermont, to work for Wall-Goldfinger, an up-and-coming fine cabinet and furniture-making company. With no experience, save his unflinching skill and precision, Ed researched making refined veneer panels and created their veneer department. His passion for his craft and love for his team members were evident in his work. It was typical to find Ed at Wall-Goldfinger on a Saturday, happily singing along with his favorite Grateful Dead songs while perfecting his latest project. His skills helped attract business from universities, government entities, and Fortune 500 companies throughout his career. Edward lived knowing that their fine boardroom tables sat in the Situation Room, the International Monetary Fund, the Federal Reserve, and the many that went down with the Twin Towers, a testament to his exceptional craftsmanship.

Ed found love again and married Debbie Bussiere in 1997. Together, they raised Matthew and Deb's daughter, Tessa Bussiere. Ed and Deb loved to camp, and it became a favorite summer pastime. Ed was also a devoted Dead fan, and they attended as many concerts as possible. When not on the road, Ed and Deb renovated their home in Northfield with special touches from Ed's craft. With the help of Tessa and their friends, they built a massive series of dry-laid slate retaining walls and stairs. Ed even erected a teepee equipped with a wood stove, tucking it in the woods on their property.

Despite the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease in 1999, Edward's unwavering spirit and determination refused to let it hinder his craft. For over a decade and a half, he continued to work, showcasing his indomitable dedication and passion. It was only in 2015, when the disease became too demanding, that he retired.

Ed and Deb moved to Rotonda West in Florida in 2017, spending their last years together enjoying the beach, biking , and the company of their beloved dog Gizmo, with whom Edward became inseparable. Deb's unwavering love and support were a constant source of strength for Ed, even when it came time to let him go on his chosen journey from this life. Deb, Matthew, and Tessa stayed by Ed's side during his last days and hours, providing him with the comfort of having his family together in his final moments.

Left to cherish their memories of Ed are his wife, Deb; son, Matthew Mazuroski, granddaughter Mila; stepdaughter, Tessa Bussiere; sister, Susan Nock and her husband, Kerry of California; brother, Mark and his wife, Katherine of Massachusetts; sister Ann of Arizona; brother Paul of Texas; David of Nevada; nephews Christopher Kantor, Skye Mazuroski, and niece Erika Mazuroski.
