I was privileged to know Ed through work, although we met while playing softball on the same team for the Sandia League. He was a great guy, and great athlete, and could really move that big body on fast legs!

Eddie, as you ride into the heaven you deserve, I know you'll be enjoying the view between the ears of a horse, or over the handlebars of your Harley. RIP brother!

Just hearing about Ed now.  We met Ed through work/business, and had quite a few adventures together, traveling the country, and swapping stories.  Lost touch when Ed retired, and got on his 'steeds' and headed out, seeking new adventures, just he always had.  Miss you bud, Godspeed.........

I was shocked to read of Ed's passing. Ed worked with my husband David Zittel (who passed away in 2022)  at Sandia for many  years, & he was one of our closest friends during that time. The weekend parties, trips to the mountains for Christmas trees, the annual Pecos Picnic in the fall... So many memories. I had been trying to track Ed down for many years after we retired & left NM but didn't have any success.  My heartfelt condolences to Adam & Kristin, and I am so very sorry I was not able to reconnect with your dad. He was a good friend.

Outside of my family, I may have known Eddie longer than just about anyone, starting with fifth grade at Queen of Heaven, following to St. Pius, groomsmen in each other weddings, and afterwards.  He was a real friend, especially when we were in high school, whether we were pushing each other during football practice (we had an eye on each other to see who could finish bleacher or Parenti Field "mountain" drills first),  trying to get through physics class (Mr. Go pairing us as lab mates was a real bad idea), or the more leisurely pace of track senior year.  Eddie was definitely the more adventurous, and pushed me to do things I might have been more hesitant to try otherwise (Of course, there were some things we both probably shouldn't have tried!).

I moved East and he stayed West, and didn't stay in touch as much as we should have (to my regret), but he was an integral part of a major part of my life.

Rest easy, my friend

Ed and I first met at the ABQ Tribune awards dinner for the 1972 football season... he beat me by 60 yards for the city rushing title, but I held over his head that he played for a 3A school where I played for a 4A school... anyway, we ended up being roommates at NMSU for the next year and a half... there are too many fun things to remember (or not remember, based on the number of brain cells that we most likely killed off)... this relationship continued as we were best man at each other's weddings (where I thanked the Catholic priest for giving me the sacrament, which caused a little bit of a stir)... he was instrumental in getting me to move to Austin, where we continued sharing life events (births of our children, the death of my first son, softball games, bowling leagues and more parties and get togethers than I could enumerate here)... even though we lost close touch after a while, I loved keeping up with Kristin and Adam's lives through Vickie... Ed will always be my brother... as I have said so many times - I love you, Brother... give Leto a hug for me...

Eddie and I were good friends at Q of H and Pius.  He’d sing in our short lived ‘garage’ band with Jeff Rein as drummer.  He was the jock and I was the long-haired hippie. One time he found this old long wig and put it on to see how people would react.  He couldn’t stay on the back of my bike, which is probably why he got his own later on.  We learned the hard way not to drink a lot of stawberry soda before riding horses in the foothills. I wound up moving away after graduation and lost touch.  Eddie’s a good memory that I’ll always have.
