Edward's obituary

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Edward F. Fischer. He was born May 22, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY and passed away peacefully and painlessly at home on July 11, 2025. Eddie is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Blanche Fischer, son Kevin Fischer and daughter in law Amy Faust, daughters Susan Beatini and Jennifer Dee, son-in-law Gabe Dee, and five grandchildren: Julia Beatini, Daria Beatini, Alice Fischer, Maggie Dee and Ray Dee. Susan’s beloved husband Paul Beatini predeceased Ed on September 11, 2001. He is also survived by his sister Carol Galvelis and brother Bobby Fischer and many cousins of the Bomba branch of Brooklyn, NY.

Eddie was a long time resident of Dumont and Old Tappan, New Jersey and achieved his life’s goal: working hard enough so that he could retire before 60 and have enough to last him and his wife the rest of their long, happy lives, first in Homestead and then in Port Orange, Florida. Ed and Blanche just recently moved to Thrive located in Montvale, NJ,

Eddie was a self-taught carton designer long before Computer Assisted Design and worked for Federal Paper Board in Montvale, NJ and then Oaktree Packaging also in Montvale. Eddie was old school: he did his own home repair, renovating four homes himself all from what he learned from Better Home and Gardens Handymen books. Right up until his death he was still landscaping his own property, in a community which provided that service to residences.

A member of the Elks, The Eagles and The Moose Lodge, Ed was an avid supporter of Veterans. Ed thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at The Our Lady of Hope Thrift Shop in South Daytona, tinkering around in his garage, renovating his home, going to Mass, cracking jokes, reading the paper, Google searching anything he didn’t know, following the stock market, and looking for good deals. His friends and family will always cherish his sense of humor and his generosity.

Eddie, Dad, Poppy Ed, Eddie Boy, Uncle Eddie - we will carry you in our hearts forever.
