Edward's obituary
Edward was honorably discharged from USAF (A2C Abn. Nav. Eqpt. Specialist) services in the mid 60’s. Since then he has worked for various organisations in the USA and around the Globe.
He moved to Australia in the mid 1970’s and worked for various organisations in Australia and the Asia Pacific Region. Some of his memorable positions being the Base Director of the Royal Flying Doctor Services in Mt. Isa, Australia; Quality Assurance Engineer for the Rockwell Ships Systems Australia based in Sydney, Australia and as The Director General of the Telecom Operations on the island of Nauru in the South Pacific Ocean and ventured into the wilderness of Antarctica working for the Australian Antarctic Division in the summer of 1995 as their Communications Personnel. His dream was always to own his own business some day and he never stopped working at it most of his life. Successfully building a couple of them and later selling them in the 1990’s. He was an innovator and had a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Edward was a Ham Radio Enthusiast and was never short of new ideas/creative thoughts when it came to Radio Communications Equipment and diligently working on innovative products for Radio Communicators.
Edward returned to USA in 2012, so his son could complete his high school education in the USA and pursue his career with the USAF. In his mid 70’s Edward took on a new challenge working as a Park Ranger with the National Park Services and moved around a fair bit working at the various National Parks on the mainland USA and Hawaii’s Volcanoes National Park. He concluded his Summer stint at the Glacier National Park in Montana in September 2019 and headed to Florida and decided to retire from work permanently as his health started to decline. Sadly, he passed away on 25th of February 2020.
Edward was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son-in-law, brother-in-law, father-in-law and friend. He was an inspirational person whose glass was always half full! He had a great sense of humour and made us laugh even at the worst moments in our lives! He lived a life on fire, as if everything was rigged in his favour and ventured into the wilderness and return to tell his adventures most could not believe!
Edward/Eddie as we called him, was a very special man in our lives and we will always miss him dearly but he will remain in our hearts endlessly!
The DEYOUNG Families of U.S.A. and Australia
~Bhagwan saw you getting tired Dad, when a cure was not to be, so he closed his arms around you and whispered “come to me” – You do not deserve what you went through, and so he gave you rest. Bhagwan's Garden must be beautiful, for he only takes from the Best. In time we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away, our hearts were almost broken, you fought so hard to stay. But when we saw you sleeping so peacefully from pain, we could not wish you back to suffer that again. If you had spoken before you died, these are the words you would have replied, “Weep Not For Me But Courage Take, And love one another for my sake”!
Dad, you will be missed but you will always remain in our Hearts forever.
