Edward Townsend Chatfield passed away on April 11, 2025, in San Diego, CA at the age of 50. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, and—most meaningfully—a father. His life was a mix of music, motion, craftsmanship, and complexity, marked by both deep love and hard battles.

Born on October 20, 1974, Edward was a gifted musician and a skilled carpenter. He had an ear for melody, a passion for creation, and a restless spirit that found freedom in fast cars and motorcycles. He could fill a room with sound or fix anything with his hands. He was rugged, talented, funny, and unforgettable.

Edward also lived with alcoholism—a disease that brought pain and challenges, but never defined the entirety of who he was. Those who truly knew him saw past the struggle to the gentle, thoughtful man within. He carried both light and shadow, and he loved in a way that was raw and real.

His greatest pride and deepest love was his daughter, Olivia Leean Chatfield, just five years old. She was his heart—his joy, his reason, his brightest hope. Though life didn’t give them enough time, the love he felt for Olivia was immeasurable and enduring. She was the song he’d always wanted to write.

Edward is survived by his beloved daughter Olivia, his parents, his sibling, and niece, nephew, extended family members and countless friends who will carry his memory forward with both tears and tenderness.

In Edward’s honor, play a song loud, build something with your hands, be kind to someone struggling, or take a long ride with the wind at your back—and remember a man who lived, loved, and tried.

He will be missed deeply, remembered fully, and loved always.
