Eddie's obituary

Edward D. Bergdoll Lieutenant (BFD Engine 16 & HQ, Fmr. Engine 33 Ladder 15), a resident of Hull and former long-time resident Hyde Park, MA, entered the gates of Heaven on October 26th, 2022, surrounded by his dearest family, friends and colleagues after a long battle with cancer. A beloved brother of the Boston Fire Department since 1984, Eddie followed in the footsteps of his late father, “Buddy” and his brother David as a selfless and courageous firefighter.
 
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy, as well as his two children, Stephanie Bergdoll and her partner David Duzan of Canton & their son David, and Megan Bergdoll of Stoughton. Also surviving are his step-children, Chelsey and his son-in-law Timothy Currier and their son Cashman of Haverhill, and Roxanne Finigan of Haverhill.
He is also survived by his siblings, Frank A. “Buzzy” Bergdoll, Jr., and his partner Debbie of Malden, John Bergdoll and his wife Terry of Needham, and Capt. David Bergdoll (Ret.) of Dedham, Barbara and husband Richard Stanton of Illinois, Marjorie Bergdoll Dienhart of Yarmouth Port & Eleanor and her late husband Gregory “GB” Kraft of Kingston.
He is also survived by twelve nieces and nephews, and eleven great nieces and nephews.
 
He is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn, and his father, Capt. Frank “Buddy” A. Bergdoll, Sr.
 
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, November 1st from 3:00PM to 7:00 PM at the South Shore Baptist Church at 578 Main St. (Rte 228) in Hingham, MA, 02043.
Funeral services will be held also at the South Shore Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 2nd, at 11:00 AM. Interment at the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury to follow.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations and contributions may be made to the Boston Local 718 Firefighter and Family Cancer Foundation.
