Edward Barrie, III was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 8, 1962 to Jewell Gloria Scott Barrie and Edward Barrie, Jr. God relieved from his pain on March 13, 2015. He leaves behind his sister Denise Smith, and three brothers, Robert Todd, Lester Eugene and Dennis Gordon. Though his grandparents, Thomas and Adell Scott and Edward and Ophelia Barrie preceded him, he still leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, cousins, and friends. In 1980, Edward was a graduate of Percy Julian High School in Chicago, Illinois and attended the community college in Long Beach, California. He accepted Christ as a young boy and loved attending church faithfully. He praised the Lord and enjoyed singing with the Men's Choir. Edwards was known as a "gentle giant" who would help anyone who needed him, so of course, children took to him. He loved family gatherings, music by Bootsy Collins, science fiction, chess, gardening, fried chicken, peanut butter and chocolate. When people think of Edward they see the most peaceful moments of their lives. Theses moments mimic Edwards's personality. We see him when we are helped by a stranger, when we are served with kindness, when we see a man who is tall, quiet and respectful, and finally when eyes pierce ours and go straight to our hearts making us smile and warming our souls.
