>My beloved father, Eduardo Cowan, passed away at the age of 86 on August 20, 2014 after a long battle with Peritoneal cancer.
>Eduardo was born to Guillermo Modesto Cowan and Fermina Alvarez on October 13, 1927 in Las Villas, Cuba. When Eduardo was younger, he completed grade school then had to go work to support his family in Havana, Cuba. In his own Cuban Lore, he shared he had to change his birthdate to appear older so he can get his first job as a server in a restaurant. After that he signed up for a technical job installing the first phone lines in Cuba, connected to the Bell Telephone Company, that were established in the 20's. He did that for a few years and odd jobs like being a transport driver on the side. Finally in the 70's, he filed for political asylum during the Cuban Exodus and fled communism through the Freedom Flights to Miami, FL. He later had to return to Cuba to claim his first wife, daughter, and son during the Mariel boatlifts.
During the mid-70's, during an outing to Key Biscayne beach, he met Carmen Cowan and they had their first daughter, Emery, in 1977. In October 23, 1978 she and Eduardo married. they had been married 36 years. They lived in the same home in Hialeah since the 70's.
>Eduardo was a loyal servant to God, first and foremost. He loved the church, he became a deacon and treasurer from the 1980's at La Catedral Del Pueblo and then through 2000's lastly with Iglesia La Gloria de Dios Internacional in Hialeah, FL. He now joins his wife, brothers, sisters, and parents in Heaven. He is survived by loving family members, including his son Eduardo Cowan, Jr., and his wife and daughters; his daughter, Gricel Cowan, and granddaughter, Gricel Dominguez; and daughter, Emery, son in law, Enrique, and two granddaughters, London and Celeste.
