Edna's obituary
It is with sincere regret that we announce the passing of Edna Styles, a cherished beacon of love and kindness, on August 3, 2023. Born on August 16, 1965, Edna embraced life with a pure and compassionate spirit, illuminating the lives of everyone she encountered.
Edna is survived by an adoring family including her son, Daniel "Ryan" Styles; father, Daniel Styles Jr.; sisters, Jana Styles, Roberta James, Anita Styles; brother Ronald "Ronnie" Styles; nephew, Evan James (Jenna); nieces, Lauren Holland, Brittany Styles and Alexis "Ally" Styles; 5 precious great nieces, Maggie, Adeleigh, Autumn, Blakely and Raelyn; and many loving and supporting aunts, uncles and cousins. She is predeceased by her mother, Joyce Styles.
Edna's favorite pastimes were testament to her gracious and giving nature. She loved spending time with her family, volunteering with her church, and caring for the elderly. She radiated kindness, generosity, and selflessness, and just being around her inspired others to strive towards becoming better individuals.
Edna served her church, Smith Grove Baptist Church, as a loyal servant for God. She was the pianist for 37 years, taught the children, & volunteered for any project to glorify Him. Edna served the Lord by traveling around the world on mission trips to include Africa, Brazil, Kentucky, West Virginia, to help spread the gospel and help those less fortunate. She also had a remarkable 30-year career as a special education teacher, touching the lives of hundreds of children. However, if asked about her greatest accomplishment, she would lovingly say being Ryan's mother.
Edna personified the virtue of serving the Lord with gladness and left a legacy of kindness and generosity. Her life’s work and the benevolent love she extended to others will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.
A celebration of Edna's life will be held on August 6, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Smith Grove Baptist Church, 1220 Smith Grove Rd, Liberty, SC 29657. The family will be gathering around 1:00 PM to allow for receiving friends before the service.
Edna's heart was always for children. In lieu of flowers, donations to her church's children program, The Campfire Kids Ministry at Smith Grove Baptist, will be accepted.
In memory of Edna, may we all strive to love and live with an open heart, spreading kindness and compassion wherever we go.
