Jerrie's obituary
Edna Geraldine “Jerrie” STUDER SCHOOLEY
Jerrie Studer Schooley left our 63+ year Kearns, Utah home for the last time on December 5, 2025 at the age of 92. She was born November 19, 1933 to William Percey Studer and Aura Marie Bain in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Earl Thompson Schooley on June 19, 1955. All three have gone on ahead of her. Her main desire in this life was to be a mother, and she had 2 children who were her daily focus for over seventy years: Patrice S. Powell and Doug (Julie) Schooley. She was able to enjoy her 92nd birthday and Thanksgiving 2025 with her family. An excellent homemaker, she was organized and steadily “holding down the fort” while Dad was driving trucks around the nation. She also took on the very difficult job of caregiving when Dad endured dementia challenges the last 12 years of his life, passing July 5, 2022. As her body weakened the final several months, mentally she dotted every “I” and crossed every “T” down to the final week of her life here on earth. She is survived by her 2 children, 5 grandchildren: Neil Couser, Nathan (MeKelle) Schooley, Michael Schooley, Meghan (Jared Mackay) Schooley, Joshua (Megan) Schooley, and Amanda Nash, and her 5 great-grandchildren. Each of you deeply touched Mom’s heart.
A 1970’s newspaper clipping was found in her jewelry box which describes her refreshing opinion of death:
“Don’t cry at my grave ‘cause I won’t be there. I’ll be in the breeze that ruffles your hair.
I’ll be in the sunshine and I’ll be in the snow. I’ll be in the places where we used to go.
I’ll be in your laughter and in the funny things. I’ll be in your shadow and there in your dreams.
I’ll be in your greetings but not your good-byes. I’ll be in the reflection of your loving eyes.
I’ll always be with you, and I’ll always care. So don’t cry at my graveside ‘cause I won’t be there.”
Mom made our home a very happy place, daily offering her advice, her sacrifices, her support, her love, and her guidance. Having 2 wonderful parents has been a huge blessing to Patrice and Doug. She shaped us into who each of us has become. Mom and we offer gratitude to Quality Home Health (Janice and Mari Cruz), and her superb caregiving team (Julie, Lori Caldwell, Meghan, Patrice, and Jared Mackay). “You are a great Mom” was Doug’s very last phrase to her that brought a smile to her face. Mom dedicated her body to science (University of Utah School of Medicine). No funeral service, but family and friends will celebrate Mom in January at a restaurant she loved to frequent: Siragusa’s Italian.
