Edmund's obituary

On September 8, 1928, the world brightened a little as Edmund Howard Horner entered it. Born to Eva and Charles Horner, he would become the oldest of 5 children. Unlucky in romance, he nevertheless ended up with 4 girls who loved and cared for him all his days. And though they divorced, he remained close and lifelong friends with Ethel and her husband Bob, eventually moving in with them for a time. He also lived with his daughter Tina and eventually moved in with his daughter Donita in 1996, where he stayed the remainder
of his life.

He lived. His favorite colors were yellow and green. He liked Country & Western music, Ballads, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Shrek. When asked who he respected, he answered “Bob and your mother (Ethel). And my Aunt Ester”. When he was 3, he bit a praying mantis and got intestinal poisoning, causing paralysis on his left side. He loved. He was married twice, though both ended in divorce. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He protected those who could not protect themselves. He was kind. He stood up for what was right. At 24 he joined the Army and spent time in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the Army as a Master Sergeant in 1977 and went to work at Reliance Pen and Pencil Company until 1988 when he moved in with family.

He gave love and was surrounded by it in return until the world dimmed again on September 29, 2019, when he let go of this life and went to be with his Savior and those who passed from this earth before him. Some of those who have preceded him to the other side include his sisters, Mary Margaret Basham and Ruth Ann Pool, his brother George Raymond Horner, and his grandson, Edmund (Eddie) Jeffers. The unfortunate souls left to shoulder the loss of his companionship include his brother, Charles A Horner; his daughters, Donita Humrich, Tina Kelly, Sonja Brown, and Zaneta (Amy) Rizzo; Bob & Ethel Cousin; his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and the many people whose lives he touched over the years. A good son, caring brother, loving father, steadfast soldier, and faithful friend, he made an impression on everyone he met. Edmund Howard Horner, you will be fiercely missed.
