Edgar's obituary
In Loving Memory of Edgar Carl Moorhead
AKA “Ed”, “Poppy”
Edgar Carl Moorhead, affectionately known as “Ed” and “Poppy,” of Panama City, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on June 25, 1956, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ed lived a life rich in love for his family and dedicated service to his country.
Ed proudly served his nation for four years in the United States Air Force, a period that instilled in him a strong work ethic and unwavering commitment – qualities that would define his life. Following his military service, Ed found his professional calling as an auto mechanic. He dedicated a significant portion of his early career to building fire trucks at E-One in Ocala, Florida, before making Panama City, FL, his home in 2002. In Panama City, Ed continued his work as an auto mechanic, building lasting friendships along the way. He was still a valued member of the team at Bubba Hill Auto Plaza at the time of his passing, where his skill, reliability, and pride in his work were well-known and deeply respected. His continued dedication to his profession until the end stands as a testament to his strong work ethic.
Ed's world revolved around his cherished family. His heart swelled with pride as he shared stories of his siblings, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, always eager to recount their latest accomplishments with a beaming smile. He leaves behind a legacy of love, and he will be deeply missed by many. He is survived by his beloved children, including his son Edgar Reynolds and his wife Christina, along with their children, Jackson and Chloe, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and daughter Cassondra Eyster and her four children, Kaylynn, Johnathan, Anna, and Jeremiah, of Reading, Pennsylvania.
Ed also held a deep and special place in his heart for his stepchildren of 35 years, who reside locally: Pamela Brown and her husband Kyle, Mary Gibson, and Barbara Hyde. His joy multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren: Erika DeGrazia, Cailyn Hauglie, Amberlyn Cook, Drew Brown, Lorrin Toomer, and Logan Toomer, each bringing him immense pride and happiness throughout the years. This joy further blossomed with the arrival of his great-grandchildren: Brayden Hauglie, Brycen Hauglie, Ashden Hauglie, Addelyn Hauglie, and Sebastian Cook.
Ed is also survived by his brother, Irwin "Butch" Moorhead of Arizona, and his sisters, Carol Townsend of Homer City, Pennsylvania, Judy Fancella of Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Linda Winkle of Monaca, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Moorhead and Marian Moorhead; his sisters, Sandy Heilbrun and Beverly Moorhead; his first wife, Ivy McLain; his second wife, Suzanne Hyde; and his stepson, Carl Hyde.
To those who knew him best, whether as the dependable Ed or the beloved Poppy, he will be remembered as an amazing man whose stories filled rooms with laughter and whose presence offered a comforting sense of warmth and unwavering love. Always willing to lend a helping hand without hesitation, Ed’s life created a lasting and positive impact on everyone fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
Though our hearts are heavy with the sorrow of his absence, we find comfort in the cherished memories we hold and the hopeful promise of a future reunion in Heaven.
