I met Eddie West when he was singing with the Midwest Travelers of East Saint Louis Illinois in the late 1980s or early 1990s when I started playing gospel.  Eddie and I became the best of friends like brothers and like a father to me. The Midwest West Travelers were together for a number of years until the manager of of the group became ill. After the group disbanded I started another group called the Spiritual Echoes and recruited Eddie and a few more singers. We became very popular with our singing and traveled all around out of state.  Eddie told me about his ordeal when he lived in Friers Point Mississippi and that inspired me to write the song Over In Zion. Eddie loved the song. We became even more popular after I wrote the song  Over In Zion which was a big hit. Eddie's vocals was the right voice for it. He sung it from the heart with true feelings. The spiritual echoes were together for many years and even had a radio show every Sunday morning on WESL AM radio station. The Spiritual Echoes finally disbanded after members started becoming I'll. After a few years Eddie moved back to Friers Point Mississippi where he started back sing with The Sons Of Wonder. They then made an album with Eddie singing my song Over In Zion. I was proud of Eddie doing my song because there was no other who could sing it like him. May his soul rest in peace Over In Zion
