He became a founding member of Afro-American Plus (AA+), a pioneering Black student organization that would shape the campus landscape. His leadership extended beyond AA+, as he was elected the first Black President of the YMCA at MSU. This progressive organization, a beacon of unity amidst division, saw Eddie as a symbol of hope and change. His election as the first Black student to a campus-wide leadership position was a monumental step forward, paving the way for future generations of Black leaders. Breaking barriers was a hallmark of Eddie's life.
Eddie's academic achievements were equally remarkable. He shattered barriers as the first Black Aerospace Engineer to graduate from Mississippi State, a feat that placed him among a select few in the nation at the time. His career as a highly successful software engineer was a testament to his intelligence, dedication, and adaptability. Always a Pioneer, Eddie continued to give back to Mississippi State, becoming one of the founding members of the Mississippi State Alumni Association Black Alumni Advisory Council and a Sponsor of Black Alumni Weekend.
