Eddie Hammond Jr. was born on February 22, 1961 in Barnwell, S.C. to Eddie Hammond Sr. and the late Ann Elizabeth (Daniels) Hammond. He departed his life on March 31, 2019 after a long battle with lung cancer at the home of his daughter in Greenville, S.C.
He joined St. Peters Baptist Church at an early age . Graduated from Blackville-Hilda High School in 1979 and joined the Marine Corp shortly after high school but was honorably discharged in the 1980's. In 1999, he attended South Carolina Commission for the Blind.
One brother, Richard Hammond, preceded him in death.
Left to cherish fond memories are his father Eddie Hammond Sr.; daughter Shekeria (Porcia) Padgett of Greenville, S.C.; two sons Jeremiah (Brandi) Hammond of Greenville, S.C., Eric Hammond of Barnwell, S.C.; Step daughter raised as his own Celeste Hammond of Greenville, S.C.; two sisters Loreen (John) Brown of Barnwell, S.C. and Georgia (Edwin) Jones of Denmark, S.C.; one brother Ronnie (Lucia) Jackson of Blackville, S.C.; 9 Grandchildren; 7 Aunts; 5 Uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
