Eddie's obituary

UPDATED OBITUARY:

Eddie Lee Dean, 50, of Dallas, NC, passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2025. Due to a tragic accident, our loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, was taken way too soon.

Born on June 9, 1974, in Gaston County to Wanda Gail Stafford Dean, Eddie spent his early years attending local schools, including North Gaston High School. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and said on many occasions that he “always felt closest to God when surrounded by nature”. Known as a “jack of all trades” by many, he was highly skilled in carpentry, roofing, and fencing, and was a longtime employee of Gaston Fence, before embarking on his own, creating KB Fence. Eddie also enjoyed turkey shoots, racing, playing cards, watching the History Channel, and spending time with his beloved family and friends. He had a servant’s heart, was always willing to help anyone in need, and never met a stranger.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Jennifer Hegler of Cherryville; daughter, Angel Mull (Junior) of Kings Mountain; and daughters Braelynn Hegler and Kynlee Dean of Cherryville. He is also survived by his mother, Gail Dean of Dallas; sister, Amanda Dean of Dallas; brothers Brian Dean (Heather Goodale) and Josh Dean (Amanda Pearson), both of Dallas; and grandchildren Samuel, Melinda, Lieghla, Hunter, Mark, Elizabeth, and Charlie. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, including Brooke Mixon, Joseph Mixon (Ashley), Logen Blattau, Colton Goodale, Teagan Dean, Hollie-Jo Dean, Izabella Dean, Kaleb Dean, Alexia Wriston, Cameryn Stafford, Delylah Stafford, Easton Hegler, Emmalyn Arnett-Hegler, and Jaxton Arnett-Hegler. Additionally, he is survived by his mother and father-in-law, Becky and Scottie “Shorty” Hegler of Cherryville; brother-in-law, Cameron Hegler of Hickory; and brother-in law, Ryan Hegler (Sarah Turner) of Bessemer City; as well as an army of cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his cousin Ricky Stafford and dear longtime friends John “Spanky” Ferguson and Susan Cloninger.

A funeral service will be held on February 28, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Life Church in Cramerton. A Celebration of Life will follow at Deer Woods Farm in Bessemer City on March 1, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an account dedicated to his daughter, made payable to: Kynlee Dean, at 1018 Dallas Cherryville Hwy., Dallas, NC 28034.
