Edward's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ed Lombardi, who died peacefully on December 23, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on June 11, 1936, Ed lived a rich and meaningful life filled with love, laughter, curiosity, and devotion to his family.
Ed graduated from Clark University in 1958 with a B.S in Geology/Earth Science. He also completed a computer graphics program at Harvard Graduate School of Design. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Marie, whom he met while working at the MITRE corporation in Bedford, MA, and together they shared 60 years of enduring love, partnership, and family. They welcomed their son, Eddie, in 1973, and their daughter, Kristina, in 1976. Ed and his family lived in Chelmsford, MA for over 35 years before moving to Hampton, NH, and finally to Concord, NH, to be closer to Eddie and his family. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Laura Lombardi, and his grandchildren, Anna and Anthony.
A man of many passions, Ed was especially known for his love of tap dancing, music, and travel. He began taking tap lessons at age three with his sister, Rita, and carried his love for dance throughout his life. Even when he could no longer stand, his feet would quietly tap along to the music. He admired dancers such as Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, Fred Astaire, and the Nicholas Brothers, and he enjoyed films such as Singin’ in the Rain, Field of Dreams, High Society, The Pink Panther, and Roman Holiday. His musical tastes were equally diverse, from the Glenn Miller Orchestra and Louis Armstrong to Andrea Bocelli and Frank Sinatra.
Travel brought Ed immense joy. He planned thoughtful and adventurous vacations, always savoring the shared experience with his family. He explored Europe extensively, with Italy being his favorite country which he returned to four or five times. He also traveled to Hawaii, Bermuda, California, and the Caribbean, among others. Whenever a family member planned a trip, he would dutifully create an itinerary, most often including humor where he could.
A devoted husband and father, Ed was immensely proud of his children, Eddie and Kristina, celebrating their milestones and supporting them throughout their lives. His gentle encouragement, unwavering support, and constant affection carried them into adulthood. Even in his final days, he never missed a chance to share a smile or a kiss with his children and grandchildren.
Ed’s bond with Marie was the cornerstone of his life. Their love, respect, and companionship endured for six decades. She visited him daily in his final days, and together, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary—with a cannoli in hand, his favorite music playing, and his feet keeping time to the rhythm of his favorite music playing nearby.
A devoted Patriots fan and a lover of golf, Ed found joy both in grand adventures and simple local pleasures. Above all, his greatest happiness came from time spent with family and the countless friends and strangers whose days he brightened with his warmth, humor, and kindness.
Ed is survived by his wife, Marie; his children, Eddie and Kristina; his grandchildren, Anna and Anthony. He will be remembered fondly for his love, humor, generosity, and abounding personality.
