Earleen's obituary
Earleen Fern Starke Daniels was born on June 20, 1914, in Petaluma, California, to Earle and Flossie Starke. She shared a lifelong, close relationship with her younger sister, Muriel, a bond that remained one of the most meaningful and enduring connections throughout her life.
After graduating from Petaluma High School in 1933, Earleen pursued an education in San Francisco with the goal of becoming a teacher. However, life took her in a different direction when she met and married Donald Theodore Briggs, with whom she had her daughter, Sandy. They spent several years together before eventually parting ways.
During World War II, Earleen met Marshall Lee “Danny” Daniels while he was serving in the Navy. They settled in Colma, California, where they shared over four decades of life together. Known for her love of entertaining and her elegant sense of style, Earleen was admired for keeping a beautifully maintained home. She took great pride in her surroundings and enjoyed bringing people together, despite the chronic health issues that began to affect her. Her struggle with severe acid reflux often kept her from participating in the social life she so loved.
As her health declined, Earleen and Danny eventually went their separate ways, though she continued to maintain a connection with family, especially her sister Muriel. Their bond remained a source of strength and comfort, even through Earleen’s later years of illness.
Earleen passed away on February 19, 1992, in Fairfield, California, at the age of 77, after years of battling severe esophageal problems that ultimately led to respiratory arrest. She was laid to rest in her hometown of Petaluma, among generations of family. Earleen’s legacy of grace and resilience lives on through her family and the cherished memories of those who knew her.
