Earla's obituary

Earla Renckly, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on August 1, 2021. She passed peacefully in her home with her family nearby. She was a talented singer, an avid reader, a lover of board games, and above all: a kind friend.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Renckly, her two children, Jamie Clark and Jen Valentine, her stepsons Andrew and Patrick Renckly, her sister, Patty Heppenstall, and her mother, Audrey Feldmeier.

Earla was born in 1953 to Peter and Audrey Feldmeier. She grew up in Michigan, receiving her BA from Hillsdale College. She then relocated to Pittsburgh to start her family. As her kids grew older she re-entered the workforce. She worked for DDI, Levin Furniture, and eventually McKesson Automation. This saw her heading back to school, receiving her MBA from Waynesburg University. She would retire as the Director of Training and Documentation for a medical automation company.

Earla loved to travel. She explored Scotland with her sister, Patty. She hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. She and Jim criss-crossed the country many times in their RV as they visited their kids and grandkids. She loved hiking, kayaking, camping, and following any guided tours she could get her hands on.

Earla was also passionate about education. She was an advocate for the non-profit Campaign for Female Education. Instead of flowers, the family asks you support that organization at camfed.org.

A celebration of her life will be held for her at Southpointe Country Club on September 4th, 2021, from 12-3pm.
