Daniel, Craig and Jeremy,

So sorry for your loss. Your dad and I were bridge partners for many years. He was my partner when I became a life master and I was his when he reached the goal. The great bidding system he developed was created for us and utilized by the two of us to great advantage until the Northampton Bridge Club had had enough of us.

I announced Earl's passing at the bridge club Tuesday night and gave a short talk about Earl and what his friendship and partnership meant to me.

We spent many hours in the car traveling to bridge tournaments and he was always talking about the three of you and what you were doing. He was very proud of the three of you. I can only imagine how much he must have enjoyed you and your families as spouses and grandchildren were added to the clan.

I have had very little contact with your dad since the fallout with the bridge club. News of his passing has triggered a lot of pleasant memories most of which involve bridge adventures and some big wins, but I also remember the house, his gardens and the dahlias. Most of all I remember what a smart, hard working, focused guy he was, and how warm and friendly he was to everyone.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I will be out of town on the 29th and unable to attend the memorial service. I will be there in spirit.
