Dylan's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Dylan Nicely who was born on July 5, 1995, and left us on March 23, 2024. Dylan was a beacon of strength and an embodiment of wit, kindness and compassion. His empathy for others was boundless, his loving spirit all-consuming and his high spirits were contagious.
Dylan graduated from Rockcastle County High School in 2013 and was an active congregant of the Christian Church of God. His giving nature further led him to volunteer at Elderly Care, a testament to his selfless service and inherent goodness.
Survived by his loving mother, Angelia Perkins, his father, Randy Perkins, his grandparents, Gary Langford and Colleen Langford, his Aunt Anna Rose, cousins Kira Owens, Matthew Chasteen and family members Chris Hoffmann and Tammy Hoffmann, Dylan's passing leaves a void that can never be filled. He was predeceased by his dear cousin, Maggie Rose. Every person Dylan touched will miss him deeply, but his mother Angelia will feel his absence most profound. For seven years, she stood by his side as his unwavering pillar of support, and their bond was truly extraordinary.
A lover of the outdoors, Dylan found joy in hunting and fishing. His adventurous spirit took him on numerous hunting trips with his grandfather Gary and friend James Barron. His zest for life, his courage, and his faith were inspirational to all.
Despite being sent home on hospice 7 years ago with a prognosis of merely a week to live, Dylan defied the odds and lived seven years. His bravery, resilience, and stubborn optimism was his greatest accomplishment. Dylan's legacy as a survivor - of kidney failure, marfenes, Lupus, calaphlaxis, and bleeding issues - is a testament to his indomitable spirit and a walking, talking testimony for God.
A funeral service will be held in Dylan's honor on April 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM. A memorial gathering will be held at 5:00 PM on April 8, 2024 at Dowell & Martin. In Dylan's memory, contributions can be made to "St. Jude Children's Research Hospital".
Dylan's life was a lesson in courage and unyielding faith. He taught us to live every day as if it's our last, to shower love on our dear ones unabashedly, and to place unwavering faith in God's plan. Dylan's optimism, even in the face of adversity, was unparalleled and he believed himself to be healed, irrespective of the doctor's prognosis.
May his soul rest in peace. Dylan will live on in our hearts, his spirit forever etched in our memories. He was an overcomer, a survivor, and an inspiration to us all.
