Dwan's obituary

OBITUARY

Dwan Earl (Dink) Young was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 27th, 1969, to parents Elder, Reverend Thomas T. C, and Missionary M0. Beverly Young. He was a rambunctious little boy and earned the nickname Dink, as he was affectionately called. He showed interest in music, football, and the outdoors at a very early age. His mother recalls that before he could walk, she put him in a baby walker. She looked down and before she knew it, went down three steps outside and was halfway down the block before she could catch him.

Dink was very close to his family and loved get-togethers. He and his siblings used to play church and had learned to harmonize after their father taught them songs like the theme from the Mickey Mouse Club and Jesus Loves Me. Beverly became the family director and coordinator, while Thomas managed the children in the music ministry.

Dwan was happily married to the love of his life, Amelia, for 21 years. He's the father of 4 beautiful children, Marquelle, Baltymore, Falon, and baby boy Nash. He also has two bonus sons, Marquis and Isaac.

Dink started writing music at a very early age. He sang in the Sunshine Band and the choir, and played the drums diligently. When he was three years old, his uncle Rudy bought him a set of drums for Christmas. His parents wanted to disown Uncle Rudy. They thought they would never get another night's sleep. However, Dink loved the music and has written over 21 songs that have been published. Dink will be remembered for having the most incredible sense of humor; he loved making people laugh.

He once won a high school award for class clown. Dink was an alumnus of Colorado Christian University. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Metropolitan State University. He played halfback on the football team. After injuring his ankle, he was elated when he finally had a son, Nash, who aspires to become a Denver Bronco, even though he is only seven years old.

Dwan will be truly missed but will forever live in our hearts, as he dedicated his life to God. Surrounded by his family after a short illness, he transitioned into the hands of God on September 30th, 2023. He leaves to cherish his memory: His Parents, Elder Rev. Thomas (T. C.) and Miss’y (Mo.). Beverly Young. Two sisters: Dichelle Dutchess (Clifton) Knight and Temira (Quondale) Lofton. Three daughters, Marquelle, Baltymore, and Falon; one son, Nash; and two bonus sons, Marquis and Isaac. His Uncle Deacon Rudy Matheson (who was like a brother). A host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and very close friends.

Dwan transitioned from earthly labor to heavenly reward on September 30th, 2023. May he rest in the bosom of the Lord until we meet again.
