Drucilla Steward known as “Dru’ by friends and family was born on June 15th, 1949 to Robert E. Bonds Sr. and Lu Bertha Card Bonds.% She was as beautiful of a person inside as she was on the outside that was gracious, kind, generous, and always was known for being a very reasonableperson.% It was not uncommon for her to go out of her way for friends and family alike which was appreciated by all in which she engaged. Drucilla married Ralph (Dennis) Steward in 1973 the 2 of them were married for 30 years. In 1976, they moved their family to Hazelridge Street on the Eastside of Detroit where they would raise their family.% At the time Dru’s family included Keith and Clarissa Bonds, Dru’s youngest brother and sister, where she would continue the raising them after the death of their mother in addition to her own three sons Charles, Rodney, and Martin.% Her three children affectionately referred to her as “Mother” along with some of their closest friends, while many others referred to her as “auntie”. After studying the Bible with Sister Betty Mallory she came to know and loveJehovah God, and that love moved her to dedicate her life to him on April 11th, 1973. With her faith Dru was a source of encouragement to friends, and family both spiritually and physically.% She also enjoyed sharing comfort from God’s Word the Bible with her neighbors.% This was veryimportant to her which led her following retirement to engage in this work full time, which she did for 12 years up until the time of her death.% In 2014 Dru moved to Las Vegas to be closer to her youngest son and his family and get away from the snow.% The friends she met and engaged with while in Las Vegas in short time developed a high level of care and appreciation for Dru as her sincere and welcoming qualities were always on display.%Dru was preceded in death by her mother Lu Bertha Card Bonds, her father Robert E. Bonds Sr., her brother Robert E. Bonds Jr. , her brother Howard Bonds Sr., and her sister Rita Procter.% She leaves to cherish her memory 3 sons along with 3 beautiful daughter in laws.% Charles J. Bonds (Nanette Bonds), Rodney A. Bonds(Nanette Bonds), Martin C. Steward (Shellethia Steward) who will carry on her legacy of generosity and kindness.% She also leaves 6 grandchildren, MartiaHouston, Jevontae Williams, Miranda Bonds, Justin Bonds, Alaysia Steward, and Eric Bonds, along with her siblings Althea Flowers-Thomas, Aaron Bonds, Andrew Bonds, Keith Bonds, andClarissa Bonds and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
