  • When we met, I told Bill  how his reputation had preceded him, and he laughed.   My parents knew Bill, when all three taught at Shimer College.  The Keohane home, known as the  Nathaniel Halderman house, now on the historic register, was built in 1854, and always needed something.   On one  visit, mother pointed to this, that, and the other, that Bill Gorman had done.   She had once called me a “mechanical genius”, so I asked if Bill was one,. She paused, thought, and said, “No. Bill Gorman, is mechanical genius super first-class”.   So here’s to Bill, person, friend, and mechanical genius, super first-class.

Uncle Bill loved to laugh at silly jokes. For ex., what happens when you throw a red ball into the blue ocean?    It gets wet. :)
I am sorry for your family’s loss.  I am sure he contributed to the education of so many students and will continue to do so.  May his memory be a blessing to you all.
