Personal note from THE LADY...

Whether you called her Wanda Jean, Momma, Grandma, Aunt Wanda, Mrs. Nelson, Dr. Nelson, Doc, President Nelson, Wanda (very few were rewarded with the honor of calling her that), or something else entirely, the bottom line is that when you met Dr. Wanda J. Nelson, you met a one-of-a-kind original, LADY!
When Dr. Nelson turned 17, after graduating high school a year early, she went to Kansas City, Missouri to live with her brother, Raleigh, and to fulfill her dreams of becoming a chemist, but fate and Earl L. Nelson Sr. had different plans. After they met, they married and committed to parenting three children together. Then when her husband passed away in March 1996, Dr. Nelson, without losing a sense of self, demonstrated courage, strength, and a clarity of purpose as she balanced a career in Cosmetology with the challenging roles of Widow, Mother, and Grandmother.

Some of us need eight hours of sleep each night. Dr. Nelson survived on four. Some of us can barely do one thing at a time. Dr. Nelson usually did ten. But the biggest difference between Dr. Nelson and most others was ATTITUDE. What many considered sacrifices, she considered opportunities. She rarely passed up a chance to better herself and her dedication to becoming the woman she was created to be is why she achieved so much at the level she did.

To say she knew how to Love is an understatement. To say she knew how to laugh, cry, grieve, and heal is closer to the truth. But regardless of where, when, how, or why one encountered Dr. Nelson, the lasting impression was always the same. This is a Woman worth welcoming into your heart and home. And the finest thing about working with a Woman like her is meeting and getting to know "THE LADY" 🙏
