Passed peacefully on Jan 1, 2024 in Peoria at the age of 74.

Richard was born to Gladys E. and Dr. Charles L. Shute on Dec 15, 1949 in Binghamton, New York. He was inspired by his father, a U.S. Navy medical doctor, to pursue a career in medicine. Richard graduated from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara (UAG) in 1980 and practiced medicine until 2021. He spent much of his spare time reading and would often enjoy writing his own novels. You could guarantee that he was enjoying Sunday night football every week. You’ll be forever missed and may you rest in peace in heaven watching over us.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Theresa, and his children, Robert, Ryan, Richard"Andrew”, and Jennifer. He will also be remembered by his two grandchildren, Anna and Dorian, and by his sisters, Mary Kay and Carol. He was preceded in death by his brother Larry Shute. A private funeral service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church.
