Dr. Perry William Kirklin, Jr. was born February 28, 1935 in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania the second of six children born to Perry Kirklin Sr. and Martha Peek Kirklin. He graduated in 1953 from Lincoln High School where he excelled in academics and football. He worked his way through Westminster College on football and academic scholarships.
