Dr. Mohamoud's obituary
Dr. Mahmood Michael (“Mike”) Mohajery passed away peacefully in his sleep on 26 November 2024. Mike was born in Daragaz, Iran to Shamsi Arbab and Mohammad Javad Mohajeri on 05 February 1943. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering from the American University of Beirut in Beirut Lebanon, his Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Clarkson College of Technology in Potsdam, New York. It was in Potsdam that Mike met his wife of almost 52 years, Barbara Ann MacIntyre.
Mike and Barbara were married in 1973 on Mike’s birthday which, Mike explained, was so that he would never forget his anniversary. Mike completed his Ph.D. in May of that year and, shortly thereafter, began working for the Aluminum Company of America (“Alcoa”). Michael and his family resided in Fox Chapel, PA for many years.
Mike was still working for Alcoa in Pittsburgh, PA when he retired in August of 2007. Mike’s career with Alcoa had taken him to more than 80 countries. When he was required to live in Russia for two years, Mike hired a private tutor to teach him Russian, adding one more language to the four he could already speak. After his retirement, Mike and Barbara moved to Naples, Florida and the couple lived there until, for health reasons, they relocated to Massachusetts to be near their daughter, Sarah and her family.
Mike is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Sarah Shube, grandchildren Martin and Micah Shube, two brothers Masood Mohajery and Hasan Mohajeri, and sisters Mahine Mahajeri and Mahtab Mohajeri. His brother Mark Mohsen Mohajeri predeceased him earlier this year.
