Mel's obituary

Dr. Melvin (Mel) D. Coleman, age 72 was born in Cleveland Ohio, and made his home in Minneapolis, MN. He was self-employed as a licensed psychologist and served the Minneapolis community. He attended and obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Stout (UW-Stout). He was inducted into the UW-Stout Basketball Hall of Fame in 1978 and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Hall of Fame in 2018 as a 1,000 point player (video below). His rebound record still stands at UW-Stout. He was also drafted by the NBA in the sixth round and ABA league.

Dr. Coleman was the father of Tracey (Jeff) Climes and Shatona (Jeff) Groves. He is survived by 5 grandchildren (Bridget, Christopher, Ryan, Sheriden, and Jeffrey), 2 great-grandchildren (Londyn and Lylah), and 1 sister (Elizabeth Knight). His parents (Neda and James Coleman) preceded him in death.

The Minneapolis community, a host of close friends and family will miss his presence.
