Kadam's obituary
Dr. Kadam Shodhan, dearest son and brother, devoted husband and father, devout leader and visionary, and dedicated advocate and friend to many, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by Bhavna, his wife of over 40 years, and their children, Shivani and Shivam. He was blessed with a life full of excitement, happiness, love, family, and overflowing joy and success.
Born in Ahmedabad, India to the late Haridasbhai and Shrimatiben, he was the youngest of six children yet the boldest and most charismatic. Carrying his childhood mischievous and adventurous personality into dental school, he was able to develop many lifelong friendships and memories. Following graduation, he practiced in his hometown until he immigrated to California in 1980. He had the conviction to build a caring culture and a community, leading him to establish a successful dental career spanning ~45 years. Treating more than his patients’ teeth, he listened, lightened their load, and loved to make them laugh. He adored his patients above all, and to them, he was ever grateful for their love and blessings.
Dr. Shodhan was a man of simple living and high thinking. He had a profound dedication to the service of his family and society. Helping others was his calling and his way of life. From its inception, he was a pioneering member and a pillar in the establishment and administration of Valley Hindu Temple (Northridge, CA). As a trustee and incumbent Vice President, he brought our various communities together on a single platform to celebrate our religious, social, and cultural events. He tirelessly devoted his time and energy to the presence and expansion of the Temple.
His involvement in the broader community revolved around Lions Club International (LCI). As a charter member of the Northridge chapter of LCI, he held many positions over the years, most notably serving as the Regional District Governor. Further, his involvement with Lions in Sight included collecting >25,000 pairs of eyeglasses for distribution to the underserved and donating his motorhome/RV for conversion into a free mobile eye clinic.
He was a fierce advocate of education, recognizing that it promoted independence and unlocked potential success. As such, he loved learning from and sharing ideas with everyone he encountered. He encouraged and sponsored the advancement of many including his children, nephews, nieces, and others.
Dr. Shodhan always strived to have a positive impact through his actions. Although dearly missed, he will be fondly remembered by all.
In lieu of flowers, Dr. Shodhan humbly requested all to please donate to the Valley Hindu Temple (Northridge, CA) to honor his memory via this website.
