Dr. John Anthony Thompson, known affectionately to all as Tony, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at his home in Mountain Brook, Alabama, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in February 1947 in Washington, D.C., Tony spent his formative years growing up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he attended the …
